Oocyte Freezing (Egg Freezing)

Oocyte or egg freezing is recommended for women under the age of 35 years who wish to preserve their fertility for the future.

The indications for egg freezing include:

1. Those women who must undergo cancer therapy and wish to freeze eggs for future use.
2. Women less than 35 years who wish to preserve their eggs for future use.

Egg freezing is done following the same protocol as IVF. Women are stimulated with medication to produce a number of eggs. We wish to have a minimum of 10 follicles in order to make the procedure worthwhile for the patient. The eggs are than retrieved transvaginally and frozen in the lab. The eggs are not fertilized at this time.

Our current oocyte survival rate is between 65-70% .
