The
Toronto Centre for Advanced Reproductive Technology (TCART),
under the direction of Dr. Robert F. Casper, was founded in
1993 to assist infertile couples who have been unable to conceive
through standard infertility techniques such as micromanipulation
(i.e. ICSI). These procedures are the only option for couples
with severe male factor infertility failure of fertilization
and implantation in an IVF cycle.
The Centre offers a caring
and confidential environment made up of health care professionals
dedicated to the assessment, planning, implementation and
evaluation of fertility treatment. The staff at TCART regard
quality patient care as their foremost directive in addressing
patient's needs. TCART physicians are members of the Division
of Reproductive Sciences, in the Department of Obstetrics
and Gynecology at the University of Toronto. TCART will have immediate access
to new research findings of the division and will participate
in research protocols approved by an Institutional Review Board (IRB).
Patient education is an essential component of treatment
at TCART. Information is made available to patients regarding
all aspects of care. The TCART team encourage patients to
ask questions to help them fully understand the various
treatment options. We realize that with treatment comes
a lot of stress and anxiety, referral support services are
available upon request.
