Dr. Robert F Casper, MD, FRCS(C) : Medical Director : Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility Specialist

Dr. Robert Casper founded the Toronto Centre for Advanced Reproductive Technology (TCART) in 1993 and is our Medical Director. A Professor of the Division of Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Toronto, he has cross appointments in the Departments of Physiology, Medicine (Division of Endocrinology) and The Institute of Medical Sciences. Dr. Casper is also the Camille Dan Family Research Chair in Translational Cell Biology and a Senior Investigator in the Samuel Lunenfeld Research Institute at Mount Sinai Hospital. He also founded and is Medical Director of the Insception LifeBank Cord Blood Programme.

Dr. Casper received his MD at the University of Western Ontario in 1973 and his Fellowship in Obstetrics and Gynecology from the Royal College of Surgeons of Canada in 1977. In 1978, he was awarded a Medical Research Council of Canada Fellowship for training in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of California in San Diego with Dr Sam Yen, and was certified as a diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology in Reproductive Endocrinology in 1982.

Since 1980, Dr. Casper's research activities have been continuously funded by the MRC/CIHR. He was awarded an MRC scholarship in 1982, and in 1997 received a joint CIHR/INSERM Visiting Scientist award during a sabbatical in the laboratory of Professor Edwin Milgrom in Paris. Dr. Casper has authored over 300 papers (cited 9722, h-index 59).

Dr. Casper is past president of the Canadian Fertility and Andrology Society (CFAS). He is an Editorial Editor of Fertility and Sterility and a section editor for Reproductive BioMedicne Online and is on the editorial boards of several other journals in Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproduction. Dr Casper is an honorary member of the Middle East Fertility Society and was awarded the Health Silver Medal of the Ministry of Health, Republic of Lebanon in 2001. In 2004 he was the recipient of the CFAS Award of Excellence for lifetime research achievement. In 2012 Dr. Casper received the "Excellence in Research Award" from APOG (Association of Academic Professionals in Obstetrics and Gynecology of Canada).

Dr. Paul Chang MD FRCS(C) : Gynaecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility Specialist

Dr. Paul Chang completed his medical degree at the University of Toronto and his residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the University of Western Ontario. He has presented at international meetings and received awards in clinical research. Dr. Chang was an editor for the Asia Pacific Association of Gynecologic Endoscopists.

Dr. Chang completed a Royal College fellowship in Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility (and Minimally Invasive Surgery) at the University of Western Ontario, and is one of a handful of physicians in Canada with this designation.

In addition to providing excellent care based on scientific evidence, honesty, compassion, and individual's circumstance, Dr. Chang enjoys meeting and teaching future medical professionals. He is a lecturer at the University of Toronto. His interests include Polycystic Ovarian Syndrome and Medical Management of Endometriosis.

Dr. Chang speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese.

Dr. Yaakov Bentov, MD, M.SC. : Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility Specialist

Dr. Yaakov Bentov started practicing fertility and IVF in 2002 at the Soroka Medical Center – one of the largest fertility centres in Israel. He completed his Medical Degree, Master's Degree, and Obstetrics & Gynecology residency at the Ben Gurion University in Israel. He completed his fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility at the University of Toronto.

During his training, he received several awards for excellence in clinical practice and medical education. Dr. Bentov has a faculty position in the Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology, University of Toronto. The author of several peer reviewed research articles, Dr. Bentov's areas of interest include ovarian function and pathology, as well as clinical infertility and reproductive endocrinology. Dr. Bentov's also speaks fluently in Hebrew and Arabic.

Dr. Dan Nayot, MD, M.SC., FRCS (C) : Reproductive Endocrinology & Infertility Specialist

Dr. Dan Nayot is the newest member of the TCART team, and he's been actively involved in our research program for many years. He has trained at internationally recognized intuitions; obtaining his medical degree from the University of Western Ontario, and completing his Obstetrics and Gynecology residency at the University of Toronto.

Continuing his academic pursuits at Harvard University, Dr. Nayot received his Masters of Science degree in Clinical Epidemiology. He has been awarded several research grants and academic scholarships, authored numerous scientific papers, and presented at international medical conferences.

Dr. Nayot is an active reviewer for several fertility scientific journals including: Journal of Assisted Reproduction and Genetics (JARG); Journal of Obstetrics and Gyneaecology of Canada (JOGC); Gynecologic and Obstetric Investigation (GOI). He is also a faculty member at the University of Toronto in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, and trains students at various stages of their medical programs.

Dr. Nayot is one of only a handful of physicians to complete a Royal College fellowship in Gynecologic Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at McGill University, Canada's largest University-based reproductive centre. Operating at the hub of Canada's first publicly funded IVF program, McGill University is a world leader in novel techniques, including in-vitro maturation (IVM) and fertility preservation, as well as the first to establish a pre-implantation genetic diagnosis (PGD) program in the country.

Now as part of the TCART team, Dr. Nayot is committed to providing his patients with individualized evidence-based care. He is a strong believer in empowering patients to make educated decisions, whether by appraising the latest research studies or facilitating a holistic team approach to infertility.

Our Laboratory Team


Dennis is a graduate of Centro Escolar University, Manila (Philippines) with a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology. He worked as a Senior Medical Technologist at De los Santos Medical Hospital Blood Bank and Immunology Department and played an active role in promoting awareness in voluntary blood donation.

In 2001 Dennis pursued his career as an embryologist at the Bahrain Defence Force Royal Medical Hospital. He later became a senior embryologist and managed a private embryology laboratory at Al Baraka Fertility Hospital and Arabian Gulf University. Dennis joined TCART Fertility Partners in January 2012.

Milena : Embryologist

Milena started her career in reproductive technology at the University of Toronto, where she completed an Honours science degree in molecular biology , after which she started work as an embryologist at a Toronto IVF clinic from 1985 to 2002. She has been with TCART since 2003, working towards our success in the lab and supporting the team.

Khalid Mahmood Rao

Khalid graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Sciences from the University of Lahore (Pakistan) and worked as Veterinary Officer and then Provincial Coordinator in the Pakistan Agriculture Research Institute. Continuing his education at Sydney University (Australia), Khalid obtained a Master of Science degree with a focus on in vitro maturation and vitrification of mouse and sheep embryos.

After arriving in Canada, Khalid worked as a Research Associate (Nexia Biotechnologies/PharmAthene) specializing in transgenic production. Khalid joined TCART Fertility Partners in June 2011 as an andrology and immunoassay technologist.


Giribabu (Babu) received a Bachelor of Science degree and Diploma in Medical Laboratory Technology from University of Madras (India). He worked as a Laboratory Technician at Sri Ramachandra Medical College and Research Institute, Madras. From 1995 to 2004 Babu worked as a Medical Technologist at Saudi Aramco, Dhahran Health Center, Dhahran (Kingdom of Saudi Arabia).

Babu is OSMT-certified (Ontario Society of Medical Technologists) and has been at TCART Fertility Partners as a phlebotomist and immunoassay technician since 2004.

Our Nurses


The TCART nursing team provides each and every patient with compassionate and knowledgeable care based on their many years of experience in the field of infertility.


Caroline joined the TCART team as a clinic aid in 1995 while completing her Bachelor of Science in Nursing at McMaster University.  After graduation in 1996, she began her nursing career at TCART where she has remained a dedicated member of the TCART family. 

In 2011, Caroline became the manager of our nursing department where she facilitates the collaboration of the nursing team with other departments to ensure the best care is given to all of our clients.


Joan started her nursing career with a diploma from George Brown College. She went on tO complete her B.A. at Trent University  and M.A. at york university before receiving a BSc in Nursing at Ryerson university. Joan has been working in the field of infertility for over 25 years,

joining TCART in 1999. She views her role as facilitating the challenges clients face while undergoing the often difficult process of fertility treatment. 


Tracey joined TCART in 1999 with three years of previous experience in infertility.


Francine obtained her Nursing Diploma from George Brown College in 1988 and began her nursing career in 1989 at Toronto General Hospital in Hematology and Neurology.  She obtained her certification in Post Partum Nursing from Humber College in 1990 and went on to work at Women’s College Hospital from 1990-2002 in Post Partum and Labour and Delivery

Francine joined the TCART team in 2002. Francine views her role as a guide and teacher for her patients as they can sometimes face challenges while going through fertility treatment.


Rhonda graduated from nursing in 1968 from Women’s College Hospital School of Nursing.  Rhonda has worked in both the hospital and private practice settings  and within many different fields of nursing including labour/delivery, family practice, chiropractic/pain management and now fertility.

Rhonda joined the TCART team in 2002.

Ashley graduated with her practical nursing diploma from St.Lawrence College in Kingston Ontario. She started her nursing career at TCART in 2010 after moving to Toronto.

Ashley has recently returned to school to pursue her bachelor of science degree in nursing at Ryerson University. Ashley is looking forward to completing schoolING and becoming a registered nurse next year

Jennifer Wardrop : Chief Operating Officer

Jennifer started her career in the medical device business in 1984 when she founded Futuremed, a nursing home supply company, with a group of entrepreneurs. Since that time she has continued to develop new ventures in various fields, including medical lasers (Surgimedic Products), medical clinics (SpaMedica), cosmeceuticals (Sigmacon Esthetics, now Beauty Next), pharmaceuticals ( Sigmacon Lifesciences), and technology patents (Zircadium).

Jennifer has also been involved in many spheres as a board member: philanthropic (Child Development Institute), branded spirits (Canadian Iceberg Vodka), medical devices (Zirclight), and community organization ( Midtown Parks and Trees, South Rosedale Ratepayers Association).

Since 2010 Jennifer has been the COO of TCART Fertility Partners, bringing her broadly-based experience in management, business development and operations oversight to the organization.

Deborah Myers M.Mgt CCPE : Director Of Operations

Deborah joined TCART Fertility Partners in 2013 to lead operations, patient care enhancement programs and corporate development. Deborah is continuing TCART's focus on patient-centered-care and providing a high level of service excellence.

Prior to joining TCART Deborah held senior management and leadership roles in executive healthcare, pharmaceuticals and international new business development. She managed operations, P&L oversight, marketing, corporate start-up and growth development.

Deborah holds a Master of Management from McGill University, specializing in International Health Leadership, and has accreditation with the Council for Continuing Pharmaceutical Education.

Marietta : Finance

Marietta graduated from the University of National & World Economy (Sofia, Bulgaria) with a Master of Science in Economics. First working as a Professor in Economics at the University of Chemical Technology and Metallurgy, she then spent more than 10 years as Representative Manager at Sogem S.V. Umicore Group in Sofia, Bulgaria. Umicore Belgium is the biggest producer of special metals in Europe. Marietta's career in finance began in 1996 with Deloitte & Touch in Bulgaria. In Canada she continued working for a variety of chartered accountant firms and as a controller for small and midsize companies. Passionate about continued education, Marietta is currently pursuing her CGA designation.

Frances : Patient Service Supervisor

Frances has been assisting Dr. Casper since 1992 and since 1993 has played a key role at TCART Fertility Partners.

Esther : Patient Service Coordinator

Esther joined TCART Fertility Partners in 2010 and personifies our commitment to patient comfort and support.

Michelle : Patient Services Coordinator

Michelle joined TCART Fertility Partners in 2013 with many years of related experience. She has become a great asset to our patient care services.

Evelyn : Patient Services Coordinator

Evelyn joined TCART Fertility Partners in 2013 and is part of the weekend team that is crucial to our care continuity.

Our Fellows

Dr. Nayana Taludakar

Dr. Nayana Talukdar obtained her medical degree in India, with a residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology. She has worked in the fields of infertility and IVF since 2003. Currently undertaking her Master of Public Health at the University of Western Ontario, Dr. Talukdar expects to complete it in August 2014.

Since 2011 Dr. Talukdar has been a senior clinical fellow at TCART Fertility Partners. She is currently involved in various research projects and in 2013 published a research paper in a peer-reviewed journal under the guidance of Dr. Casper.

Dr. Anat Herscu Klement

Dr. Anat Herscu Klement obtained her medical degree in 2001 at Ben-Gurion University of the Negev (Israel). In 2010 she completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Meir Medical Center in Kfar-Saba (Israel) and is affiliated with Tel Aviv University. Dr. Klement has been practicing reproductive medicine and IVF since 2011 and has been involved in epidemiological research in obstetrical outcomes of IVF treatments and evaluation of advanced ART techniques for male infertility.

Since the summer of 2013 Dr. Klement has been working as a clinical fellow in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Toronto under the supervision of Dr. Casper. She is initiating clinical research projects testing uterine receptivity at TCART Fertility Partners and has recently joined a lab researching umbilical stem cells at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital.

Dr. Klement will be working at TCART Fertility Partners until the summer of 2015.

Dr. Lucy Ann Behan

Dr. Lucy-Ann Behan completed her medical school training through the Royal College of Surgeons in Ireland in 2003 and is a certified specialist in Medical Endocrinology. While looking after patients with pituitary disease who needed medical assistance to conceive, Dr. Behan developed a keen interest in reproductive endocrinology. She has published a number of original research articles in the area of pituitary and adrenal endocrinology.

Dr. Behan moved from Ireland to Canada to work as a clinical research fellow with Dr. Casper and the team at TCART Fertility Partners, with a view to gaining expertise in reproductive endocrinology and completing research with world experts in this field. Her current research investigates the potential benefits of adding aromatase inhibitor tablets to hormone replacement therapy (HRT) in menopausal women or those with primary ovarian insufficiency. Dr. Behan is also contributing to research on the use of novel medications to delay the onset of ovulation in assisted reproduction cycles.

Dr. Amir Weintraub

Dr. Amir Weintraub obtained his medical degree in 2005 at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel and is a certified specialist in Obstetrics and Gynecology. In 2011 he started practicing fertility and IVF in one of the largest departments in Israel at the Shaare-Zedek Medical Center in Jerusalem. Dr. Weintraub has a faculty position at the Hebrew University Hadassah Medical School in Jerusalem and has published a number of original research articles and presented work at scientific conferences.

Since the summer of 2012 Dr. Weintraub has been working as a clinical fellow in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the University of Toronto under the supervision of Dr. Casper. He is involved in research at both TCART Fertility Partners and at the Lunenfeld-Tanenbaum Research Institute of Mount Sinai Hospital in the area of coenzyme Q10 and reproductive aging, with a special interest in the relationship between oocyte aging and offspring metabolism. Dr. Weintraub is also researching endometrial gene expression in endometriosis patients, as well as the use of novel medications to delay the onset of ovulation in assisted reproduction cycles.

Dr. Weintraub will be working at TCART Fertility Partners until the summer of 2014, after which he'll be returning to Shaare-Zedek Medical Center.

Dr. Fredric Mitri

Dr. Frederic Mitri completed his medical degree and specialty training in Obstetrics and Gynecology at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. Throughout his training he received academic certifications and had the opportunity to cross rotate in various countries.

In January 2013 Dr. Mitri joined TCART Fertility Partners as a clinical fellow and is practicing Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility under the mentorship of Dr. Casper and the medical staff at TCART. Dr. Mitri has presented and published research papers and is working on both clinical and basic science research projects. His areas of interest include the cellular, molecular and genetic mechanisms underlying reproductive pathology, endometriosis and ovarian aging.
